Signing athletes as employees Let's go.

00:14

What do Monsters, Inc. and hiring athletes as employees have in common?

00:19

It's a movie that I'm sure you've all seen.It belongs to a company, which is why it's called Monsters, Inc.that had a goal that they needed to obtain energy by making children scream.

00:33

That's totally negative. They start off on the wrong foot and then they realize

00:58

We know the first one.I don't mean discipline, I mean sacrifice.

01:04

That is an ancient path,my path, and there is one related to sports.

01:09

It is through the values of sport.Sport is the main driver of well-being.

01:15

When companies achieve employee well-being,when we've achived that, and that brings me back to Monsters, Inc.

01:21

Let's not make people scream, but rather make people smile,is where we get much more energy.

01:27

This is something I learned through many years of playing sports.

01:33

And that's where the idea came from as to why don't companies hire athletes as employees?

01:39

Sport is the driving force behind well-being.When people exercise and take care of themselves, they can give their best.

01:48

Some time ago, you wrote an article entitled Why companies need athletes as employees.

01:53

Can you tell us a little more about your thesis?Look, I've been playing sports for as long as I can remember.

01:58

I learned many values. What I wanted to convey in that article is the value that having motivated employees, through sports, can bring to companies.

02:10

If you have people who play sports, you'll probably get something fantastic that they'll want to work as a team.

02:17

And it doesn't matter if they play individual sports or not,how many people take part in a marathon where they train for years and years and prefer to delay a little to cross the finish line with someone.

02:32

Wow! They prefer not to break their record.to feel accompanied.

02:38

And that's why I think it's so important in companies.thanks to the teamwork I'm doing, thanks to that discipline and perseverance I know one thing for sure: tomorrow I'm going to do it.

02:48

Sure, not 90, but 110 of my share. But above all, what I am doing is for the common good.

02:54

A goal that is not only mine, but shared by many others.

02:58

How does a sense of belonging relate to high human performance?

03:02

How I feel about myself in my personal life when I haven't given it my all?

03:07

When we talk about people's frustrations, they often come from there.

03:13

Not from anything external, not from other people.

03:15

It doesn't come from you,It comes from not being able to give your best.

03:21

Often out of fear or for not leaving that comfort zone.

03:27

If we measure success both at the company level and on a personal level, for what we earn or for the position you hold, well, the truth is that this is a mistake, because we are never seeing far beyond that.

03:40

Success is never reaching the finish line; success is, one, have the courage to be at the starting line And two, give it your best shot.

03:48

When you give your best of you what more could you ask of yourself?

03:53

Don't just look at one result, don't look at the short term, but look much further ahead.

03:57

If what we are doing helps us grow and that is giving the best of yourself.

04:01

It is impossible to grow without giving your best.
